Galini Benetatou is a circus artist based in Athens, Greece. From an early age, she trained in rhythmic gymnastics in New Psychiko, Athens.
She holds a Bachelor degree in Theatre Studies from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and a degree in Circus Arts from INAC – Instituto Nacional de Artes do Circo, graduating in 2019 with a specialization in cloud swing and acro-dance. Following her studies, she continued her training in aerial swinging in Bristol with aerial specialist Freya Watson.
Her practice explores universal values, the female body, approaching both the body and circus apparatus as carriers of meaning and as fields that can be reimagined and reconstructed.
Drawing inspiration from 20th-century artistic and theoretical practices, she approaches circus as a performative and research-based practice.
