Galini Benetatou was born in Athens, Greece and from, an early age, she was a member of the rhythmic gymnastics team of New Psichiko. She was admitted to INAC – Instituto Nacional de Artes do Circo (Degree in Circus Art) where she received interdisciplinary education on circus techniques and graduated in 2019 specializing in cloud swing & acro-dance. After her graduation she traveled to Bristol, where she furthered her education in aerial swinging with the expert aerial specialist Freya Watson.
Galini is a senior in Theater Studies at National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
Her creative research centre on exploring themes of universal values, the female body, and the impact these have in the present times. Her references have roots in artists and authors that epitomize social issues such as Nikos Kazantzakis, Sarah Kane and other artists of the 20th century.
Galini channels these themes through circus and movement.
