The Music of the Abyss
‘’we always flirt with the abyss although we thirst for life’’
Inspired from the death of her grandmother and motivated from the book, The saviors of god by Nikos Kazantzakis, Galini’s work is focusing on the common elements that birth/nascence and death have. It is a self-experience research based on her grandmother’s last month, her observations on that, the inevitable questions that arise by watching her passing away (what it is to be dying? what is being? what is to be born?)and all the resemblances that she found between her grandmother and a baby which arose the ultimate question: If we have so many similarities as elderlies with babies, is it possible when we die to go back to where we came from? And where is that? Some authors describes that we came from a dark abyss, the womb, and we end in a dark abyss, the grave, (Nikos Kazantzakis, Greek author), other believe that our absence from the world after our death can’t be different from our absence before our birth,( Arthur Schopenhauer, German philosopher).
The purpose of this solo is to find common ground with the audience, to pass on sentiments that all mankind shares, to remind us our own personal questions and references.
